Program:  1)  Welcome back from the summer break

                  It has become customary to share with the group some of our ham radio related accomplishments over the summer in our first meeting of the fall season.  Did you buy a new rig, put up a new antenna, fix something in the shack or help another ham with a project?  

                2)  AI and Voice Automation on HF Ham Radio

I recently managed an HF QSO with a robot in Vienna, Austria on 20m SSB.  Is this the wave of the future?  It turns out the ham behind this, Gerald, OE1GAQ, published his methodology in the May/June 2026 edition of QEX magazine.  So I dug into the article and will give a short presentation on what it’s all about.  I will even play back the QSO with the recorded transcript (Voice to Text) which highlights several key issues facing automation involving voice.  

                3)  Your Questions and Suggestions

As usual, we encourage you (especially newbies) to ask your ham radio related questions to the group and also to suggest topics you’d like to see addressed over the coming months.  If we can’t answer them, we’ll make stuff up – just like some of the AI chat bots I know!
